The Organiser is an independent news media publisher, which focuses on and for the people of Sierra Leone. Its main goal is to report untold stories which are ignored in the mainstream media. It aims to keep informed and give a voice for all Sierra Leone people home and away to build and better the quality of life within the entire country and surrounding. When Mr Shaw first approached me, he came with something different, he wanted a website where he can post news articles. Normally most client would want a website to put up a product or promote a service, he, on the other hand, wanted post news as a side hobby. I was at first very sceptical as he might be put off the prices that I will change for something he just wants to do as passion. Although the prices did not course him running for the door, we did manage to agree on a reasonable price where he was happy to proceed. At first, we started with an older website called PressUnited. PressUnited website became active just over a year and due to a misunderstanding of the hosting renewal cost Mr Shaw and I had a disagreement and decided to shut the project down. Roughly six months later we then reconciled and decided to start fresh, and of course, i had to through in few discounts here and there, but at the end we restarted working on the project this time around calling it TheOganiser. Whilst the project went on, I spared some time to allow Mr Shaw to come to me and teach him each week month on how to manage his new website. Slowly from beginner worked hard but still kept on coming me to crop his images. And because he was sending me more than a hundred images google drive to crop for him, it was very time-consuming. so I decided to make a page and a plugin that will be attached to his website to upload his image and it will automatically crop the desired size for the website, and so I did, and he was well pleased and very excited, thanked me for days. Now that he was independent, I monitored his progress and checked all the articles to make sure everything looked just how we intended it look.  We made many changes and amendments as time went on. The biggest change came along when the website crashed due to high traffic of visitors. We then changed server and pursued on to a bigger package to support the requirement of the traffic coming on the website. Few months went by, we notice the traffic was still growing and the popularity of the website was getting recognised around the world as Sierra Leone top news publisher online.  As a result, I started looking into how I can help Mr Shaw to harvest from this traffic to make money, which leed me to Google AdSense.  So, we signed up to AdSense and for three month I monitored the outcome.  As a result, He made a good turn out, but there were still areas where we can improve the website to maximise on profit. Again, we revamped the complete design and structure of the website to hold more stories. Took away the image background to allow faster loading, got rid of the images logo and replaced it with a text logo, again which also increased the speed of loading.   Altogether I give the website a brand new flat and clean appearance to be more mobile friendly and more versatile on all other devices. I also regularised how the advertisement was layout. Organising it in such a way that increased the impression rate on first page load whilst still able to present the news content.   The outcome of this was a straight hit, Mr Shaw loved it, and it also reflected on the AdSense earnings. Summary Honestly speaking I see a great future for this project, it’s something that is educational for everyone, and having a website to grow this big can only mean a better revenue. Through Mr Shaw I have learned that sometimes following your passion can eventually leeds to bigger things beyond what you expecting. Although you may spend a lot of time money to fulfill your desired passion, if you do it right you could actually turn it around a make a great business out of it. I see myself as another example on how I became who I am today and the sacrifices i made in both my time and money get to this point. Honestly speaking, I have learned a lot through this project, one of the thing that most learned is the information is money, and good content very important and can result in a good return for the hard work.
