When I was studying at Greenwich University, Disney was one of the companies that were offering placement work for selected outstanding candidates.  I want to say that was me, and but I did not even apply, but be honest with you I don’t think anyone in my course did. We had too much work and did not want to add more stress to the table.

To keep it short, one day, Leon (who is a long-time friend of my mine) invited me to visit a friend of his Daren. We ended up arriving late at Jetix which partly owned by Disney. We meet Daren and he invited us into his office building, and upon entering the office, I was amazed by the layout and its decoration of cartoons that I recognised all over the place. Although it was empty due to the outside of work hours, it was very busy with design and colourful famous TV show characters. I thought to myself this will be a dream come true if I ever work for this company. We were then given a tour around the office and then had a little chat whilst Daren did his work,  and by the end of our visit he had a little problem with one of the projects he was working on and it so happens to be on Adobe Flash. I help him and solved the problem, and then we left. A few months later Leon manages to successfully get a job in Jetix and through him and Daren’s recommendation, I was then invited by the digital team as a freelancer to help out on projects they had going. I was then given a 6 months contract, helping out to cropping images and creating online promotional banners.

Before my contract ended, a graphic designer post became available from the Europian marketing team. I applied for this position along with dozens of other candidates across Europe. We did our individual interviews and they give us tasks to give back by the next day, Part of the task was to create a poster and an interactive promo for Totally Spies, for them. I did mine and handed it on time.

A week when by, I was invited by the marketing managers to her office, where she congratulated me and said mine was the best of all and offered me a permanent position as their new graphic designer. I was introduced to the team and Tim who is managing graphic designer and then I show to my new desk. It was a marvelous feeling, it felt like I won the jackpot. It was wonderful meeting new people.  I had a Macbook pro and a PC on my deck to work on. First I began decorating my desk too by placing posters and gadgets here and there and making it to my own liking.

As a graphic design, I became very involved, I created promotional posters and interactive banners to support the cartoons shows on various marketing campaigns across the Nordic countries and surrounding areas. Through my time in Jetix, I managed to successfully create many animated promos and interactive website using Adobe Flash and Photoshop. The one that is really proud of are:
